Casa Umbra is not about seeing more: it’s about seeing better
Jacopo – Casa Umbra

Casa Umbra is a travel journal dedicated to Central Italy, written from a place of lived experience rather than algorithms or trends.
Here, travel means slowing down, choosing depth over checklists, and discovering Italy through its landscapes, traditions, food, and everyday life. Not the Italy of rushed itineraries, but the Italy you feel when you stay a little longer.
I was born and raised in Umbria, in Assisi, and at 22 I chose to leave Italy to gain experience abroad. After several years living outside the country, I returned home, not out of nostalgia, but with a clearer understanding of what makes this part of Italy so unique. Today, I live just outside Perugia, in the countryside of Corciano. These are places I didn’t “discover”; they shaped me. They taught me what cucina semplice and La Dolce Vita really means, why traditions still matter, and how deeply a place can define a way of life.
Regions like Umbria, Southern Tuscany, Northern Lazio (Tuscia), and Marche remain largely overlooked by international travelers, yet they hold some of Italy’s most authentic experiences: medieval towns, timeless landscapes, local food cultures, and a rhythm of life that hasn’t changed much over generations.
Casa Umbra exists to bring thoughtful travelers closer to these places: beyond the crowds and the obvious.
Before Casa Umbra, I worked in upper mid-range and entry-level luxury hospitality in Assisi, gaining firsthand insight into what discerning travelers value: comfort, quality, authenticity, and attention to detail.
Alongside this, I studied digital marketing, contributed to established travel blogs, and later founded a project dedicated to introducing Umbrian food and wine excellence abroad, from norcineria to olive oil and local wines.
This background shapes how Casa Umbra is written: with the eye of a local, the standards of hospitality, and the clarity of someone who understands how international travelers plan and experience Italy.
Casa Umbra is for travelers who:
➜ Value authenticity over popularity
➜ Prefer slow travel to rushed itineraries
➜ Love Italy deeply, or want to fall in love with it the right way
➜ Seek less crowded regions, boutique stays, local food, and meaningful experiences
➜ Appreciate guidance rooted in real places and real life
Whether it’s your first trip to Italy or your fifth, Casa Umbra is for those who want to go deeper.
Casa Umbra is not for travelers who:
➜ Are looking for day trips designed to “see everything”
➜ Want itineraries that treat Italy as a checklist
➜ Believe Italy begins and ends with Rome, Florence, or Venice
And that’s intentional.
Casa Umbra is more than a name. It’s the home I grew up in: a traditional Umbrian house where food, family, seasons, and local customs shaped everyday life.
It represents roots, simplicity, and continuity. Casa Umbra is my past, my present, and the future I chose when I decided to return home.
This blog is my way of opening that door to travelers who feel drawn to the same values.
